HOW TO

Creating a website should be easy. The hardest part should be making the design decisions. Back in the day, you needed to know how to code to create a professional looking website, but not anymore. There are tons of great site builder’s out there, but one that makes it easier than ever is Cvent’s Project Flex, a drag-and-drop site designer built to provide site designers with intuitive, responsive, and flexible registration technology. In the next section, we break down how to build a site using Cvent’s site builder.

Site Designer Overview

The site designer is made up of three core areas.
Next Feature

Widget

Widgets live inside sections and hold our website content. Buttons, images, text, etc.

Canvas

This is the wrapper for the whole website. The canvas holds the header, body, and footer contents.

Section

The section lives in the canvas and holds our widgets. Sections can be 1, 2, 3, or 4 columns.

Global Themes Library

Customize your text, colors, and other elements of your website to maintain a consistent style. You can override these on the widget level as needed.

Typeface Selection

As we talked about earlier, you’ll rarely need more than two fonts. Project Flex has presets for a Primary and Secondary typeface with the option to change on the Widget level.

Text Styling

On the Global Design Themes page, the second section is dedicated to text styles. We can set styles for each one of those types of text and they will be applied across the whole site.

Drag and Drop

Drag and drop widgets into sections. In this example, we’re dropping a custom link (button) into the column. You can see in the site designer, the blue line represents where the link will go.

Image Backgrounds

You have the ability to add background images and a variety of settings to position it correctly. Patterns can be repeated to fill the whole area, or a photo can be set to a certain area.
